Quad Biking

Craig and Julie asked if we wanted to go quad biking with them and it sounded like a great idea.  Up earlyish and off to meet the ATV company down at the beach.

So we arrived at 9.30 am - to find no quad bikes?? Hmmm - they're not answering their phone, so we decide to go and have a walk on the beach while we wait - hopefully they'll turn up.

So after an hour of waiting, the kids are all pretty fed up - and hot!  We then get a phone call to say there's been some confusion with the time we are meeting (not mentioning any names...Craig!), and we are quad biking at 2.30 pm.  It's too far to go home so we trek off into Bandar to get some lunch and cool off a bit.

We're back again ready to go by 2.30 :-)

A beautiful beautiful day!

A few videos of our adventure to add another time...

Singapore Day 3

So, the final day arrived.  Time for a bit of shopping, but also a chance to ride 'The Singapore Flyer' - it's just like the London Eye, but a bit bigger apparently.

A welcome respite from the heat!

After macaroni cheese, a little shopping :-)

Oops - I got into trouble for taking this one - shouldn't have had my camera out!

Heading over to the Singapore Flyer...getting really hot!

Quick drink stop...

Great Views from the top.

Finally, back to Changi airport to wend our way back to Brunei after a busy, but very enjoyable 3 days :-)

Singapore Trip Day 2

So Christopher wanted to start the day by making his bed :-)  Make sure those corners are just so...

So we decided that our second day in Singapore would be spent at the zoo.  Fantastic place with lots to see and do.

Ice Cream stop...Ben and Jerry's...yummy!

It was a really hot day so the icecream melted very quickly - needed to ask for emergency bowls!  Christopher got progressively more chocolatey!

So off we set to explore.  Like I said it was a really hot day and the zoo was relatively busy (probably as it was a Sunday - lots of people about).

Lots of things to see...

Though it really did surprise me as to what Christopher was excited by.  This is him pointing out the fish in the stream...which were right by the lions which he wasn't bothered by!

Trying to look cool!

Part way round we discovered a water park that we didn't know was going to be there - swimming kit back at the hotel!  We managed to buy some kit near the water park (obvious cunning planning on the part of the zoo), so Chris could spend a while cooling down in the water.  Two hours worth of splashing fun!

Water Park to die for!

Well and truly ready for action!

Finished at the water park...a spot of riding next.

Eye Spy...

So we'd been at the zoo for around 9 hours and we were thinking we'd head back to the hotel.  Then we remembered that the zoo did a 'Night Safari' - we'd heard various things about this from other people who'd been to this and said it was very good.  We decided to stick around - grab some dinner, and buy a ticket to see those nocturnal animals.

While we had dinner, we had front row seats to watch the fire show as the sun began to go down.

So...not many pictures to show of the night tour...it was fascinating...and great fun, but by this time we'd been out and about in the Singapore heat for about 11 hours and both of us were feeling it.

My camera does have a 'night shot' setting on it...but no idea how to use it, so I'm afraid no stunning pictures to show of sloths or tapirs.....

Singapore Trip Day 1

So...myself and Christopher were heading out to Singapore to go and see 'The Wiggles' in concert.  Yes, you heard correctly...'The Wiggles'!  We'd been counting off 'sleeps' for weeks and the day had finally come.  The flight was early morning, so it meant a very early start (alarm set for 5 am....groan!).

Early morning start
So we headed up to Bandar up to airport and I managed to blag my way into the First Class Lounge.  This is courtesy of my 'Gold Card' for collecting airmiles......just kind of held my thumb over the date.....

Stars for breakfast for Christopher :-)

Mind you, the annoying thing was we'd only been there 10 minutes when Christopher started to pester me to sit downstairs with everyone else.  Please can we go down...please can we?  Mum...can we go down?  He wanted to watch the planes out of the window.  So abandoning our nice comfortable armchairs and chilled fresh juices...we headed down to join the masses.

Here we are waiting for our call...

Bandar is such a small airport that it's not much of a pain sitting downstairs and we were on the plane before too long.

So once we got to Singapore Christopher really wanted to go on the MRT - Singapore's version of the underground which is very unlike the London underground in the following ways:
  • It's clean.
  • It's not smelly.
  • It's not crowded.
  • People are generally friendly.
  • It's not full of strange people :-)

Plenty of seats to be had, but Christopher likes holding on to the pole!

So we finally get to the hotel, and the room wasn't ready (we did get there at 12.30 - so fair play really).  Oh dear, room's not ready?  A thirst quenching beer in the hotel lobby seems just the thing....

Oh dear...room still not ready?  Another beer?  Why thank you...that would be lovely :-)

So eventually...room ready and we're changed and off ready to see The Wiggles.

The theatre is in the Marina Bay Sands Complex and there is an Italian restaurant conveniently situated opposite so we settle down to wait.

Can we go in yet?

Now?

Is it time yet?

So it's finally time to go in, and Christopher is beside himself.  At one point The Wiggles come down into the audience.  We are near the front and Jeff (Chris' favourite Wiggle) notices that Christopher is wearing his purple Wiggle shirt and goes to speak to him.  'You look just like me!' he says - made Christopher's evening!  It was a good show and worth the effort of getting to Singapore :-)

Wiggle excitement!

Concert all over...time to go home

All wiggled out!
