I arrived home from work to find the family on the porch...and most of the street looking in our direction too! It seems we had a snake, and not the common variety of snake...a black cobra no less. The bomba were called (fire service) to come and deal with it.
I must say, for such a poisonous snake, I was amazed at how relaxed the men were with trying to catch it. It was hiding beneath some fencing which had blown down during a storm and with no gloves or protective clothing of any sort they began to lift the fence with their hands to find their quarry.
Immediately, the cobra rose in defensive position hissing and spitting when anyone came near. They eventually managed to get hold of the head with a long pole with a loop around it and lifted it into a bag. So excitement all round!
